Course Eligibility
This class is for employees of a school district or an open-enrollment charter school who holds a valid Texas License To Carry (LTC).
Teachers - Faculty - Staff
These courses are conducted on your campus and the staff does not have to travel out of town for the training! (Saves $$)

Tactics For Denying An Intruder Entry Into A Classroom Or School Facility

Methods For Increasing A License Holder’s Accuracy With A Handgun While Under Duress (Handgun Proficiency)
• Also included is how to defend against an intruder using items commonly available in a classroom.
• Also included is learning what common items you should have in your classroom to use to deny entry or defend.
• Also included is learning how to “think and act” under stress.

Training History
Big Iron School Safety has trained school districts ALL over Texas, teachers, administrators and staff in the Guardian SSO certifications and also the shorter condensed Guardian Active Shooter Response Training available for the ENTIRE staff. The School Guardian Active Shooter Response Training can be offered to the entire staff in your schools and can be done in 2–4 hours or modified for your needs and schedule, usually during an in-service or professional development day, ALL will receive CPE credits for their time training.
Any school teacher or school district employee can take this course on their own and receive this certification regardless if your school allows you to carry in school or not, you must still have permission from your ISD to carry in school and on the job. Having this certification will help you in the future if your school decides to use the guardian program and allow certain staff to carry, you will already have this state certification and training.

Johnny was invited to the pilot training and certification class held in August of 2015 by Texas Department of Public Safety. There were only 6 total LTC instructors in this pilot class. Their purpose was more than to just get certified to offer to schools and teachers, but also to critique the class and offer feedback and ideas on ways to improve the curriculum when DPS officially launches the program.
School Safety Officer Certification officially launched in 2017. We are proud to be able to offer this to schools to help better protect our children. To date Big Iron instructors have LTC/CHL certified over 3000 teachers & staff from all over Texas since the horrible tragedy at Sandy Hook.
